Hi Trevor,
My pleasure, sharing tips ideas and information is what it's all about in my opinion. The Toyota 5 speed box is from an old rear wheel drive Celica known as a 3T split alloy case or Toyota call it their T50 transmission. There are a few Magnettes here with Nissan 5 speeds as they can be fitted with an adapter plate and therefore don't need a new bellhousing. As for the disc brake conversion the price and availability of the MGA hubs encouraged me to look outside the circle. I discovered some rear wheel drive Mitsubishi Nissan and Toyotas had the same 4 1/2 inch PCD as the Magnette with the added bonus of 12mm wheel studs so off to a recycler where I picked up the lot two hubs rotors [discs] and calipers for $66.00. These parts were off a 1982 GH Mitsubishi Sigma. I remembered at 11.30 last night that Monroe Wylie is now just Monroe and the Mitsubishi for the shocks is a L300 van. Regards. Darryl.

Hello Darryl

Thank you for your help on this subject I really appreciate the input and will chase these shocks down in the morning, Monday.

I was very interested in your car I understand the Toyota gearbox is quite small, but very tough , does this come from a Supra?
Your disc conversion is this MGA rotors, with MGA discs and MGB calipers? from your description it sounds different.

Again thanks for your input
Kind regards
Trevor

Hi Trevor,
My background includes several years in the automotive spare parts industry and in that time I managed to acquire a little knowledge of spare parts. So when it came to choosing shock absorbers for my ZA I grabbed my trusty Monroe Wylie catalogue and tracked down units that had similar extended and compressed lengths as the original shocks also the same attachments at either end. To make along story short the shock absorbers to suit a 11/1986-95 SF,SG&SH Mitsubishi Express and Starwagon 4x2 NOT 4x4 will fit straight on. The front shocks of the Mitsubishi on the front of the Magnette and the rears to the rear in other words a straight swap. In conclusion I should tell you my car also has a 22mm ARB disc brakes 1800 5brg. engine 5 speed Toyota gearbox and 3.9-1 diff. I hope you find this information helpfull and must mention the shocks are all gas
and brilliant but not Monroe Wylies they are Ultima brand.

Hi David You know quality when you see it, to be honest I had forgotten the Lada, yes I guess so,I would assume the suspension stayed the same I am told that a lot of the body panels were different, due to thicker metal.
The Monroe part numbers seem to apply across yhe whole Fiat 124, including Sport, and estate
