Magnettes & Steam

Our traditional season-opener is as usual on Easter Saturday, this time at the Cholsey & Wallingford Railway in Oxfordshire. Meet at Wallingford Station, Hithercroft Road, OX10 9GQ, from 10am (first train at 11.05). Note that trains are likely to be diesel-hauled. It's not necessary to book in advance but we'd like to know approximate numbers, so please contact Stephen Tickell if you're planning to come. Arundel Castle Picnic

A Chichester MGOC event which was to have taken place at Arundel Castle, West Sussex. Due to wet weather making the ground too soft, the event has moved to nearby Amberley Museum As a result cars will need to be on site from 10am, and may have to stay on site until 4pm. Entry is £10 per car - pay on gate. No need to book, but if you let Mark Bacchus know you're coming (01243 814264) he may be able to reserve Magnette parking

Silverstone weekend - MG Live

Once more it is time for the annual bonanza of motor racing, chatting to friends and making new ones, and touring all the stands. More details will appear in Safety Fast and on mgcc.co.uk/mglive


MGs in the Park

An annual event at the Cotswolds Wildlife Park organized by Oxfordshire MGOC, with reserved parking for Magnettes. Free entry for MG + driver (pay on gate for passengers), and visitors can enjoy the extensive wildlife as well as the many different MGs. 22nd  Z Magnette Day

The annual European Z Magnette Day, in the Sauerland region of North-Rhine Westphalia, noted for its forests, caves and bison

Register Weekend

This has been organized by Clive Webb to take in various attractions around the Worcester area, and you're welcome to join in with any or all parts of the weekend programme as follows (Booking is essential for meals and the Morgan tour)

Friday 13th July
          11.30am Morgan Factory Tour (WR14 1AJ) £22.50 11 places still available - first come, first served. Car parking on site and additional free public car park 5 mins walk away.
            2.00pm Park near the Wyche cutting and walk on hills up to Worcestershire Beacon, followed by drink at the Malvern Hills Hotel.
          ~5.00pm Return to B&B/hotel
            7.00pm Dinner at The Fleet Inn, Twyning (GL20 6FL) Please contact CW for pre-order menu.
Saturday 14th July
          10.30am Meet at Laylocks Garden Centre (WR6 5LP) for coffee followed by run to Witley Court (WR6 6JT) (English Heritage) via Shelsley Walsh
                       Group admission to Witley Court: £8.60 / £7.70 (conc)
                                                        11 or more £7.30 / £6.55 (conc)
            7.00pm Dinner at The Retreat, Norton (WR5 2PT)
Sunday 15th July
           11.00am Meet at Croome Court (WR8 9DW) (National Trust)
                        Admission: £11.45 House and park, £7.60 park only
            1.00pm Tea / Light lunch in 1940s-style canteen followed by homeward journey

Harrogate MG Show

A weekend event organized by Harrogate MG Club at Bewerley Park, Pateley Bridge, HG3 5BD. Camping space is available at the showground and doesn't have to be booked

Saturday 11th August:

10.30 a.m. onwards – Either a local road run or a self-guided  leisurely run to your choice of local attractions from the brochures on display

17.00 hrs – Register AGM at the showground. (They only last 30-45 mins usually)

18.00 hrs - Bring your own food BBQ accompanied by gentle live music

Conveniently situated in the High Street and within easy walking distance is a choice of butchers, bakers, a supermarket and a garage. Alternatively fish & chips can be purchased after the AGM.

Sunday 12th August:

8.30 a.m. – Site Opens

11.30 a.m. – the show opens

 Kop - Hill hill climb

Again an opportunity to drive this historic course or display your Magnette as part of the club exhibit or classic car display , but to do so you will have to register on the Kop-Hill web site which should appear mid April. www.kophillclimb.org.uk.  Although shown as a 2 day event you can book for a single day only. The register organiser is David Halliday.


Lou Shorten Tribute Meeting

Our traditional end of season event this year includes a Saturday afternoon 'tech talk' as part of the usual open house at John Shorten's (44 The Street, Lenwade NR9 5SD). Light refreshments will be available, and in the evening we meet at Wensum Valley Hotel (NR8 6HP) from 6pm, for dinner and the annual prize-giving.

On Sunday meet at Aylsham station on the Bure Valley Railway (NR11 6BW) for coffee and a special tour of the workshops. A train to Wroxham departs at 12.40. Please contact John Harris (01604 642662) if you're intending to come to either the dinner or the railway..
