Hi Gunter

I agree with Gruntie however you will need to remove the wiper arms and mark the wheel box spindles position to ensure the 180 degree location, the main issue with the wheel boxes is bearing wear and rotating 180 may not solve the problem, 'wiggle' the spindle and you will see the amount of wear.

Did not know that the Land Rover Defender wiper rack fits , good tip, many thanks Gruntie
Kind regards
Trevor

Gunter, try a new rack first. They are still used today, Defender items fit, they are available and cheap.
Also, a tip. When you pull the old rack out, the wiper spindles will rotate in unison, suddenly stopping when the old rack disengages. Carefully turn them 180˚, and make sure the replacement rack is exactly the same length before you feed it back in. It will thus work on a fresh, unused sector of the wiper spindle, and should remove a lot or even most of the slack. (Unless someone has already done it of course!). It worked for me, and meant I didn't have to go any further.

Gunter,

I agree with Trevor. It is wear in the rack and wheelboxes.

Make sure you get the same size of wheelbox. The size governs how much sweep you get from each reciprocation of the rack.

Regards

Malcolm

Hi Gunter

The problem sounds like either the wiper rack which is in the metal tube from the motor to the wheel boxes, or the wheel boxes themselves, both are available from www.s-v-c.co uk , I may have the wheels boxes second hand as they are long spindles type.

Any problems let me know, or Peter Martin may be able to help

Kind regards
Trevor

The wipers of my MAGNETTE are worn out, which results that the blades move too far or sometimes not far enough. When you check them by hand with the wipers switched off, you can move them several inches without any resistance. Something inside must be worn out. Any suggestions what to do and where to start with the inspection?
I hope I described the topic so you understand my problem...
Thanks for any hint.

Günter
