Hi Gunter

hope you are well.

The advert was taken from the 1956 Show Guide for the London Motor Show in October, how ever by February 1957 the car was called the Varitone, interesting history.

I wonder if the there may have been some confusion with other manufacturers , Hillman Cars did a Minx called the Gay Look, and I think Vauxhall (Opel) did a Duotone, perhaps others better informed may be able to help.
Kind regards
Trevor

Hi Trevor,

interestingly I just discovered that, when I scanned the old brochures (ZB brochure not yet uploaded). It would be interesting to find out, when and why they created "Varitone".
Was it because there were too many single coloured "duo-tones"?
Any suggestions welcome.
Günter

An old friend of mine, Richard Heading, a long time MG fan, was sorting out some old magazines recently and spotted the advert for the ZBV but on closer inspection found the description is The Magnette Duo Tone, it seems that the word Varitone may not have been used until 1957. Enlarge the wording under the Magnette

Just thought it was an interesting development , Most people may already know this
regards
Trevor
