TOPIC: Restoration Show at NEC this weekend

Restoration Show at NEC this weekend 11 years 2 weeks ago #457

I visited with my wife on Sunday.
The show wasn't as busy as "The Classic Car Show" earlier in the year but it still appeared to be well attended.
I was disappointed to see only 1 Magnette, but at least there was one. It had a few alterations to it but generally looked quite reasonable.
I was shopping around for an HVLP compressor and gun system which I had hoped some retailer/wholesaler would be selling, especially at a show directed specifically at car restoration and enhancement; but to no avail. Not a one was on sale. You could buy compressors, Mig welders, paint, cellulose, thinners and everything else but no spray kits other than guns.
A bit sad about that really but hey ho, the internet reigns supreme I suppose.
I agree £10 for parking is a steep, as coupled with the entrance fee for 2 people it starts off as a fair investment just to wander around.
Bought some replacement wipers though, some chrome polish and the wife treated me to a new MG key fob, so not a complete waste.
Looking forward to some nice weather now to get out and get to some car shows with the ZBV
Nick

Only one Magnette that I saw. A Green ZB on the "barn find" stand.
In remarkably decent shape (apart from one rear door that fitted - or rather didn't fit the wheel-arch) There was a Wolseley 15/50(?)on another stand. There were some real sheds waiting for the brave or foolhardy with deep pockets, in particular I saw really rare Riley RMD that was lhd, engineless & almost falling apart. Would be lovely if ever taken on!
All the MG stands appear to have ignored the Magnette. Not much success around the Autojumble stalls either! That said it was an interesting way to spend a few hours! Parked at Birmingham International Railway Station...£5 all day, half the price of the NEC.
