Preparing a Z Magnette for Serious Rallying - A Case Study

In 2007, Portuguese classic car enthusiast Jose Romao de Sousa entered a black ZA in the Peking Paris Rally, a modern re-run of the historic 1907 endurance event organised by motoring pioneers. In order to do so he rebuilt the car from scratch, even to the extent of adding more spot-welds for structural strength, The work he carried out is a case study, not only in rally preparation, but in ingenuity and resourcefulness because the challenge was to produce a car that would stand up to this ultimate of challenges without entirely destroying its historic character. His work offers other owners a mine of information and an insight into what modifications are possible and many can be adapted to cars intended for less exotic use.
