TOPIC: Seat Belts

Seat Belts 7 years 3 days ago #876

I have a '57 ZB Magnette which has working (sort of) traficators which I would rather like to keep, but I also want to fit three-point seatbelts to the front seats. Is there a way to fit the reinforcement for the top seatbelt attachment in the B-pillar in such a way that the trafficator can be retained?
I would appreciate some advice.

I have not encountered inertia reels in the rear before. I have them on the front where the position is relatively easy but I would have thought that getting the position right on the shelf will be difficult, bearing in mind that they have to be level in order to work freely.

Reinforcement of the shelf is absolutely essential as its structure is nothing like strong enough to withstand collision forces. It needs beefing up with a substructure of angle-iron.

I am about to fit seat belts to the rear seats on my Varitone.

I have obtained some suitable Securon inertia reel belts and was wondering if anyone has done this modification to their Magnette.

I would like to know the postions for the mounting holes for the inertia reel which will be located on the shelf behind the rear seat and I will also need the positions for the other two fixing holes in the floor and under the rear seat.

I presume some kind of reinforcment will be needed at the fixing holes so if anyone has experience of this modification I would be gratefull for any information.
