Stockfest car show 20th August 2017

This sounds like it should be a Glastonbury type of event, but is actually a village fete with other attractions including a classic car show. We were first invited to it by the MGA Twin-cam group a couple of years ago, and as the village of Stockcross is conveniently located off the M4 near Newbury, it's been quite a popular day out for Magnette owners. I don't think any of us were energetic enough this time to join the organized 'Rare breeds' scenic drive before the show, settling instead for a later arrival at the show site.

There were nine Magnettes in all, including a first outing for John & Marion Gill from South Wales in their newly acquired ZB, and also Kim Norris with a ZB painted rather unusually as a blue Varitone. The latter had an interesting history, as it had previously belonged to Kim's father, and he discovered it for sale quite by chance when looking to purchase another Magnette. I don't know if it'll be restored to its original colours, but in the meantime it certainly makes an interesting talking point.

The weather was pleasantly warm, so the afternoon was passed in relaxed Magnette conversation, admiring the other assembled classics, enjoying live music at the other end of the field, and sampling the home-made tea and cakes or the ale tent
